I remember some years ago, while I was waiting in the barber shop and going without meaning through the magazines on the table, an article got my attention. It was about something called weblogs. This is the first time I heard of Web 2.0 and frankly I didn't even thought I could end in writing on one of them.
Last year, something new came to my attention, something called Twitter. Something everybody is talking about and everybody wants to join. And I'm in there too.
Nowadays, I'm aware of the features of these two sides of Web 2.0 and I'm learning to use them as components of my internet marketing machine. If you want to know, I'm convinced any online marketer should integrate to his strategy a blog, better if Wordpress managed, and a Twitter account to get the most out of the internet social media system. In the end, they are not so different form each other, aren't they?
Let's have a look at their common features.
Interaction
Interaction is the main feature of Web 2.0 and both Twitter and Wordpress are conceived to fulfill this one.
A blog can accept comments from the readers.
Content distribution
Both blogs and Twitter are a way to distribute content inside a network.
Syndication
We already talked about RSS. Real Simple Syndication systems allows anybody running a blog to create an RSS feed of the content published, which can be used by readers to consume the information in a different way, through a feed reader. The same, your Twitter gets an RSS feed with all your updates, and you can use it to improve your visibility and your presence on the market outside your network.
These are just some of the common features of Twitter and Wordpress, but they are enough to make you understand how the two can be essential to the social media strategy of an online marketing campaign and how you should find a way to make them work together.
If you want to learn how to achieve this, you can read my book, Twitter with Wordpress showing how you can combine their features to multiply the traffic of your website and boost your online business.
